Motorola Solutions Unveils AI-Powered SVX Device to Revolutionize Emergency Response

April 22, 2025 — Motorola Solutions has launched a cutting-edge emergency response tool called the SVX, designed to significantly reduce the time it takes first responders to react in critical situations. This innovative device combines a body-worn camera, remote speaker microphone, and a real-time AI assistant named Assist, streamlining both communication and data access for public safety professionals.

With more than 60% of 911 calls in the U.S. routed through Motorola’s systems, the company continues to dominate the public safety market, and the SVX represents its latest step in supporting law enforcement modernization.

A Multi-Function Device for Real-Time Public Safety Support

The SVX is tailored to work seamlessly with Motorola’s APX NEXT radios, enhancing frontline communication with instantaneous data processing and AI-backed decision-making. Assist, the embedded AI assistant, can analyze and retrieve critical data — such as vehicle registration plates and driver’s license details — on the spot.

“Patrol officers currently spend over 40% of their report-writing time on data entry,” Motorola noted. Assist is expected to drastically cut that time, allowing officers to focus on field operations instead of administrative burdens.

According to Mahesh Saptharishi, Chief Technology Officer at Motorola Solutions, the device was developed in collaboration with 32 public safety agencies and tested by over 150 users in real-world scenarios. “They gave us feedback that shaped the SVX into a mission-ready tool,” Saptharishi told Reuters.

Motorola envisions the SVX as a holistic solution for law enforcement, emergency responders, and security agencies by improving response times, enhancing officer safety, and simplifying evidence collection and documentation.

Supply Chain Strategy in a Shifting Global Trade Landscape

In parallel with product innovation, Motorola Solutions is adapting to the shifting global trade environment. In response to ongoing U.S. tariffs and supply chain volatility, the company has optimized production by leveraging facilities in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and Malaysia.

“Our supply chain is a very fluid situation right now,” Saptharishi noted, emphasizing the company’s flexibility in diversifying manufacturing hubs to reduce costs and minimize disruptions.
