Swara Bhasker crowdfunds for husband Fahad Ahmad's Maharashtra poll campaign

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has launched an online crowdfunding effort, seeking public donations to support her husband and Nationalist Congress Party ( Sharad Pawar ) leader Fahad Ahmad 's campaign for the upcoming assembly election in Maharashtra .

Sharing information about the crowdfunding campaign on social media platform X, Bhasker said, "My husband Fahad Ahmad is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly Election from Anushakti Nagar. This is his crowdfunding campaign. Please donate to support a committed, progressive, educated young man in politics."

Fahad Ahmad is contesting the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Anushakti Nagar constituency. Previously a youth leader with Akhilesh Yadav 's Samajwadi Party, Ahmad recently joined the NCP. He is facing Sana Malik, a candidate from the rival NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar .

Ahmad expressed gratitude to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying, "Sharad Pawar is also a socialist leader, and I am thankful to him for asking Akhilesh Yadav if they want to announce my name as a candidate from NCP-SP."

The NCP-SP is contesting as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which also includes Congress and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction).

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with results to be declared on November 23.
