JAMMU : Alert BSF troops deployed along the international border thwarted an infiltration attempt and gunned down a Pakistani intruder in Jammu district’s RS Pura sector early Saturday.
Post-Friday midnight, BSF personnel spotted suspicious movement and found an intruder crossing over the international border into India. “Despite being cautioned, the suspect didn’t heed the warnings. Sensing a threat, BSF killed the intruder,” a BSF spokesperson said later in the day, adding that the man’s identity and motive were being ascertained.
Following the infiltration bid , BSF lodged a strong protest at a flag meeting with Pakistan Rangers at the border outpost in RS Pura sector. “The Pakistani side refused to accept the intruder’s body. The remains were sent for post-mortem and other legal formalities,” said the spokesperson.
Earlier, IGP (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tuti had visited the border areas in Samba district on Friday to assess the security situation at the international border, review operational preparedness, and strengthen coordination among security forces deployed in the region. During his visit, the IGP met with senior officers of BSF and Army and discussed key security measures to enhance vigilance along the border. The meeting was focused on intelligence-sharing, counter-infiltration strategies, and ensuring seamless coordination between various security agencies to effectively counter potential threats.
