Mumbai: Even as the stage is getting ready for IPL resumption-the BCCI is reportedly even planning to start it sometime in the coming week, the biggest worry in front of everyone is the participation of the foreign players in the league. However, much to their relief, the Punjab Kings don't have to face this problem, as all their foreign players, including head coach Ricky Ponting , have decided to stay back in India for the remainder of the IPL.
"Soon after he learnt of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Ponting got off the plane after boarding it for Australia. He then convinced our overseas players, all of whom are staying back. All our five overseas players-Marco Jansen, Jos Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Xavier Bartlett -will be available for participation when IPL resumes, hopefully next week," Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon told TOI.

“Jansen (South African pace bowling allrounder) had reached Dubai, but he should be arriving here soon,” he added.
The franchise is still awaiting a word from the BCCI on Australian allrounder Michael Own, though, who was playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which has been postponed. “He’s currently in Dubai. His paperwork might take some time,” a source said.
The Punjab Kings have three matches left in the league stage, and they are currently placed at the third spot with 15 points after 11 matches.
It remains to be seen what the BCCI decides about the Punjab Kings' abandoned match against Delhi Capitals on May 8, which was halted due to security reasons with Punjab placed at 122 for one in the 11th over.
Menon thanked the BCCI for facilitating the evacuation of both the team's players, support staff, officials, owners, commentators and production crew involved in the game at Dharamshala, through a specially arranged Vande Bharat train provided by the Indian Railways from Jalandhar to Delhi.
The Dharamshala airport was shut due to the war-like situation.
“It was a superb gesture by the BCCI to ensure the safety and security of all involved in the match,” the PBKS CEO said.
