Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his bold on-screen image and romantic roles, once had a real-life love story that was as dramatic as his films.

According to India Today, before marrying his wife Parveen Shahani, Emraan Hashmi revealed in a 2005 interview that he had unknowingly been in a relationship with a married woman, a revelation that surprised many of his fans.

"I wasn't aware she was married"

During an interview in 2005, Emraan Hashmi confessed, "Yes I did have an affair with a married woman. But all along I wasn't aware that she was married." The actor admitted that once he discovered her marital status, he intended to back out. However, emotions overpowered logic. "Yes, I know it doesn't make sense but when in a relationship, logic goes for a toss. So I went along without knowing where this wild journey was headed for," he said candidly.

Conscience and consequences

Despite feeling guilty, Hashmi continued the relationship. He reflected, "I asked myself several times as to what was I doing? Had I been the husband, I would have killed the guy who had tried to rustle an affair with my woman. Must tell you, all these thoughts were troubling me for quite some time. But I still kept going at it for some strange reason." Things escalated when they were caught red-handed, leading to a confrontation with the woman's husband. "We had even come to fisticuffs. But common friends intervened and the issue was sorted out before things took an ugly turn," he revealed.
