Thane police arrest family members for alleged harassment leading to wife's suicide

THANE: Police have arrested a man and two of his family members for allegedly harassing his wife and abetment to suicide in Thane, Maharashtra, on Saturday. The incident occurred on October 16 when the victim, Sonali Pawar, aged 27, was found hanging.

Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a complaint with Badlapur police, leading to the arrest of the husband, Rohit Pawar 30, his brother Dhananjay Pawar 36, and their father, Satish Vitthal Pawar 62.

The complaint alleges that the in-laws misappropriated Sonali's jewellery and confined her to their house, subjecting her to physical and mental torture, as officials said.

Additionally, the victim's mother-in-law and sister-in-law are also accused in this case.
