Credai airs concern over Muda chairman's exit

Mysuru: The resignation of K Marigowda from the position of chairman of Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) has triggered significant concern among the members of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (Credai), Mysuru chapter, fearing that the absence of a chairman will further delay the conduct of board meetings stalled for a year now.

With Marigowda's resignation citing health reasons, it is almost certain that the meeting will be postponed until a new chairman is appointed or an administrator is assigned.

The board meeting must be conducted under the chairmanship of either the Muda chairman or an administrator.

The govt has accepted Marigowda's resignation, but has yet to appoint an administrator until a new chairman is nominated. The deputy commissioner of Mysuru, who is also a board member, is likely to be appointed as the administrator, sources claimed.

A N Raghunandan, the Muda commissioner, informed TOI that his office has not yet received any communication regarding the appointment of the administrator. He emphasised that all Muda meetings where major decisions are made are held under the leadership of either the chairman or administrator. These meetings are crucial for granting sanctions or approvals to real estate projects, deciding on the release of sites in developed layouts, and deciding on new infrastructure projects.

CREDAI president Srihari D told TOI that the Muda commissioner has invited them to a meeting on Friday to discuss their requests for approvals of layouts. Despite waiting for nearly a year, their demands have not been addressed. Srihari D warned of legal action in case the delay persists.

The confusion over payment of fees to both urban and local bodies, particularly for layouts beyond the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) limits, will also come up for discussion.

Scrap sites allotted under 50:50: Sait

Former minister and Congress MLA Tanveer Sait on Thursday urged the state govt to cancel all Muda sites allotted under the authority's controversial 50:50 scheme.

Speaking to reporters, he said none of the sites allotted under the 50:50 scheme was placed before the Muda board for discussion. Terming the controversial scheme "illegal", Sait, who is a Muda board member, said 175 alternative sites were approved in 2021. Of these, 14 were allotted to CM Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi, which she has since returned. Now the state govt should cancel the allotment of the remaining 161 sites, Sait demanded.

He also welcomed K Marigowda's resignation as Muda chairman.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA T S Srivatsa, who is a Muda board member, has also sought cancellation of land allotments under the 50:50 scheme.

Speaking to reporters, he said the 50:50 sites are being sold by the beneficiaries. The govt should step in and cancel these allotments made between 2020 and 2024.

Srivatsa also asked the govt to initiate punitive action against former Muda commissioner D B Natesh and Dinesh Kumar.

However, Mysuru district in-charge minister H C Mahadevappa downplayed the resignation of Marigowda and attributed it to health reasons, as stated by Marigowda himself.
