5 held for attack on BJP MLA's son over mining royalty dispute

Jaisalmer: Police arrested five people Saturday on charges of attempt to murder Bhawani Singh Bhati, son of BJP MLA Chhotu Singh Bhati, two days after he was attacked over a mining royalty dispute at Kahla Fanta, 15 km from Jaisalmer district headquarters. Bhati had lodged a report accusing Shaitan Singh Rajput and his associates of attacking his vehicle with stones and ramming it with another vehicle.

Superintendent of police Sudhir Chaudhary said a team under Rupsingh Inda, circle officer of Jaisalmer, and Bagduram, SHO of Sadar police station, arrested five accused and they were presented in court for police custody. Interrogation of the accused is underway, he said, identifying them as Shaitan Singh Rajput, 45, Arvind Prajapat, 25, Rakesh Jat, 23, Praveen Chaudhary, 22, and Ramniwas Jat, 24, all residents of Jodhpur.
