Agartala: The Tripura govt has implemented a new policy requiring verification of both biometric and manual attendance records before releasing salaries to healthcare staff at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) hospital and other state-run medical facilities.

This initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery throughout the day.

This action follows widespread reports of doctors and staff being unavailable at hospitals after 4.30 pm.

Health secretary Kiran Gitte said, "The salary of faculty, medical officers, officials, and all other employees of AGMC, state referral hospital IGM, district hospitals to PHC will be released only after verification of attendance (both biometric & manual) from next month."

According to the directive, department heads, office heads, resident medical officers, nursing superintendents, and section supervisors must submit verified attendance records to the medical superintendent and head of department, AGMC by the 15th of each month. The order specifies that during biometric device failures, staff should record attendance in physical registers until the system is restored.

The directive also extends to monthly stipend disbursement for post-graduate trainees, junior residents and interns at AGMC and affiliated hospitals.
