Lucknow: A team from Lucknow Municipal Corporation was attacked by unidentified individuals during an anti-encroachment operation at Khazana market crossing in Aashiana on Tuesday morning.
Around 7:30m, zone-8 team 296, led by zonal officer Ajit Rai, was removing illegal encroachments. According to officials, 5 to 6 unidentified individuals, including two women, allegedly armed with sticks and iron rods, attacked the team and damaged their vehicle . Driver Shiv Govind sustained serious injury on hand, while several other team members too sustained minor injuries. Eyewitnesses alleged stones were thrown during the incident, injuring some passersby.
Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar said obstruction of govt work would not be tolerated .
