Lucknow: Around 25 hostel inmates of a nursing college in Gomtinagar took ill on Monday after consuming breakfast. Seven students, whose condition worsened, were admitted to emergency ward. College administration said some students suffering from dehydration were given IV fluids. The hospital administration, in a press statement, said breakfast was served to 220 persons, including students, in the hospital. Dehydration was identified as primary issue and all affected students were expected to be discharged by evening.
Meanwhile, hospital administration sent samples of food and water for testing to determine cause of the incident. Administrative investigations said some students ate outside the campus on Sunday, which might have caused their illness. FSDA team has taken samples of food for further analysis. TNN
