Oram demands railway div in Rourkela

Rourkela: Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram has written to railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for establishment of a railway division in Rourkela, which would also cover Keonjhar district.

In his Oct 16, 20204 letter, Oram said it would help in the development of a steel corridor in region covering Sundargarh and Keonjhar (Barbil-Bonai-Rourkela) districts.

“Rourkela is coming under CKP railway division or SE Railway. The annual freight loading is around 180 million tonne which includes iron ore, coal, pig iron & finish steel, cement, foodgrains, fertiliser and petroleum product, etc. The major contribution of CKP division is Rourkela (60% freight loading of CKP division),” he said.

“Keeping in view the importance of the Rourkela, I request your goodself to kindly consider establishment of a railway division at Rourkela.” Oram wrote.
