PS5 Slim less than half the price of PS5 Pro with BIG new discount

The 5 Pro is about to make its debut for the princely sum of £699.99. While some fans are willing to stump up the cash for the upgraded visuals and improved performance, most people are happy with the existing model, especially at these prices. Indeed, Amazon is currently selling the Slim for the heavily reduced price of just £334, which is less than half what it would cost to purchase a PS5 Pro. The PS5 Slim Digital Edition comes with a 1TB solid-state drive, as well as a DualSense controller and a built-in copy of Astro's Playroom.

The only drawback is that the digital-only console doesn't come with a disc drive. Instead, customers can purchase a disc drive separately for around £100.

According to their Metacritic scores, Elden Ring is the number one game on the PS5, followed by the superb Baldur's Gate 3.

Recently released 3D platforming game Astro Bot is number four on the list, after receiving an average score of 94%.

Other games worth checking out include the Demon's Souls remake, as well as Resident Evil 4 Remake, God of War Ragnarok and The Last of Us.

Some of these games will receive upgrades when the PS5 Pro launches in early November.

The console aims to improve on the original PS5 in three main ways. Specifically with a bigger GPU, Advanced Ray-Tracing and AI-driven upscaling.

The GPU will provide rendering that's up to 45% faster thanks to 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory. This should lead to a better balance between visuals and performance.

Advanced Ray Tracing will provide "more dynamic reflection and refraction of light", which allows rays to be cast at double and sometimes even triple the speeds of the current PS5.

Then there's the AI Driven Upscaling, which is said to use "machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail".

Elsewhere, PS5 Pro Game Boost will give older PS4 and PS5 games an upgrade in the visual and performance department.

Games that will receive a boost include Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Demon's Souls, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2 and Hogwarts Legacy.
