Phil Mickelson's lavish LIV lifestyle boasts mighty car collection and rare asteroid

Like many of his fellow golfers, Phil Mickelson lives a life of luxury as a result of the fortune he has amassed over the years. The 54-year-old, who ditched the to join two years ago, is one of the richest professional sportsmen on the planet.

Mickelson claims to have a net worth in the high hundreds of millions, having offered an insight into his finances last year. Responding to a fan's question on X, formerly Twitter, : "Almost a billionaire now. Thanks for asking."

The veteran golfer is still earning huge sums of money through LIV Golf, while he also boasts a number of sponsorship deals with the likes of Callaway, KPMG and ExxonMobil.

Mighty car collection

Mickelson owns several expensive cars including a Bentley Continental GT, which boasts a top speed of 207 miles per hour. It produces 542 horsepower and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just over three seconds.

He also drives an Aston Martin Vanquish, which is regarded as one of the most coveted sports cars on the market. According to Clutch Points, it is the most expensive car in Mickelson's garage at a price of £221,997.

The cheapest vehicle in Mickelson's collection is a custom EV EZGO golf cart worth around £10,000. It is powered by a 48-volt battery and produces 11.4 horsepower while having plenty of space for a bag of clubs and other accessories.

A love for flying

Mickelson loves to travel by air and obtained a pilot's licence after graduating from university so that he could fly himself to events. He later purchased his very own Gulfstream V private jet, but later sold it and now uses Dubai-based company Vista Global to fly privately.

Skulls and asteroids

One of Mickelson's stranger hobbies involves collecting dinosaur skulls and he was once gifted the head of a T-Rex. He also loves meteorites and owns a fragment of an asteroid which crashed in South America almost 100 years ago.

He told : "I got that from Amy last Christmas. It weighs about 300 pounds and is the size of a basketball. I also have a small one that friends gave to me. It's about the size of a softball. There are more meteorites around than dinosaurs."

A taste for wine

Mickelson is an avid wine collector and has been known to drink expensive bottles out of his trophies from golf events. After winning the Open in 2013, he took the Claret Jug around with him and used it as a cup for himself and his friends.

He told : "The people who know and love the game get a big kick out of it. They really appreciate what it means to hold such a famous trophy and drink out of it. I only let them drink the good stuff, of course.

"There's been nothing in there that is sub-par, but the best was a 1990 bottle of Romanee Conti wine. It wasn't on my dime thankfully. It costs about $40,000 (£30,857)."

Mickelson repeated the trick in 2021, chugging a bottle of Black Magic Cabernet Sauvignon from his Wanamaker trophy.
