Lee Cartwright, an expert at recently warned older people were most at risk of suffering from the impact of mould.
He stressed it can "exacerbate pre-existing conditions" and even lead to a "weaker immune system".
Lee said: "As you get older, your immune system becomes weaker, making it more difficult for your body to fend off potential infections or health issues that can be exacerbated by mould.
"Mould can release allergens, irritants and sometimes even mycotoxins, which are harmful toxins.
"These can worsen your respiratory system, such as asthma, bronchitis and other lung issues. Mycotoxins in particular can lead to headaches, fatigue, and cognitive issues."
