Moment police 'watch on' as swearing pro-Palestine protesters chant outside Jewish centre

This is the moment police pounced on a man walking a dog who dared to challenge a loud group of pro-Palestine protesters who appeared outside an event held at a Jewish community centre.

In a video filmed outside the JW3 cultural centre in north London on Sunday, the male with the dog was stopped by police after exchanging words and making what appeared to be a swearing gesture towards the demonstrators.

But in footage filmed at the same gathering, a police officer can be seen standing by as a pro-Palestine protester makes obscene gestures towards people filming the protest.

Posting on X journalist Nicole Lampert shared the video of the exchanges and said it showed law enforcement of displaying signs of "two-tier policing".

Ms Lampert explained the dog walker was a Jewish man "enraged at the awful chants" coming from the protesters who "gave them the finger".

She added: "As you can see, he was pushed away by police and warned that if he didn't leave he'd face arrest."

Continuing the caption, Ms Lampert wrote that the second video showed the demonstrators "giving a Jewish person the finger in front of a police officer who did nothing".

She said: "The two tier element couldn't be starker."

The speaking event on Sunday had been hosted by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz and included two members of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, a Labour MP and the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert.

Slogans chanted outside by activists included the controversial anti-Israel song "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free". One protester also shouted "Zionism is a racist ideology".

The Met Police said one person was arrested for criminal damage.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "At approximately 8.55am on Sunday, October 27, we were made aware by staff at a venue in Finchley Road, NW3 of a number of protesters gathering at the location.

"Officers attended and remain on scene monitoring the situation. We are also in liaison with staff at the venue to ensure they feel supported.

"Conditions under section 14 of the Public Order Act have been imposed on those protesting.

"One person has been arrested for criminal damage."
