Muffins are the ultimate sweet snack and can be enjoyed as a when flavoured with the iconic duo -
The cake-based treats are inspired by toffee apples, famed for being a happy accident. Sweet maker William Kolb was trying new recipe ideas when he dropped an apple in some melted toffee.
Today, toffee apples are a staple throughout autumn when apples are widely available in the UK.
Sharing the recipe from his TV series Sweet Baby James, dessert-loving chef said his toffee apple muffins take "no time to make".
He explained that the "delicious" muffins can be made in less than an hour using only 10 ingredients.
Toffee apple muffin recipe IngredientsTwo free-range eggs, lightly beaten
80gcaster sugar
240ml milk
100g butter, melted
300g plain flour
Two tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Pinch of cinnamon
Two eating apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
200g shop-bought toffee pieces
MethodTurn the oven to 190C, then line a 12-hole muffin tin with muffin paper cases. Avoid using cupcake cases, as these are generally smaller.
To make the muffin batter, stir the eggs, sugar, milk and melted butter in a large bowl. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon into the bowl and stir everything together.
Now add the chopped apple and gently mix it in. Using half of the mixture, quarter-fill each muffin case with the mixture and top with a few pieces of toffee.
Cover with the remaining filling so the cases are half full, and then bake them in the oven for 30-35 minutes until they are well-risen and golden. Transfer the cooked muffins onto a wire rack to cool a little before serving.
