Antiques Road Trip expert outraged as 'rule break' results in huge loss

Antiques Road Trip saw a thrilling last-minute twist when an item fetched a massive profit at auction.

The popular BBC One show featured experts Danny Sebastian and Irita Marriott, who journeyed to Oxfordshire in search of unique antiques.

Each expert was given a £200 budget to find five distinct items for auction. Despite Irita leading with two wins, Danny remained hopeful of catching up in the final auctions.

"I'm going all out now, no mucking about," he announced, before things took a dramatic turn.

At Morley Auctioneers, Danny's wooden chair didn't fetch much profit, leaving both him and Irita feeling it deserved more.

"I'm not taking that - that was worth £60 all day," Danny protested, with Irita concurring: "That deserved to make 60, 70 quid, it really did."

However, the spotlight was stolen by Irita's Charles Horner pendant necklace, bought for a mere £25. A bidding war broke out, culminating in a last-second bid of a staggering £170 just as the hammer was about to fall, reports .

A shocked Danny exclaimed: "The hammer's gone down - too late!"

Despite his frustration at the last-minute bid being accepted, Irita was visibly delighted with the auction's outcome.

Irita left Danny in the dust on their latest outing, raking in a massive £195 profit on one item alone. She couldn't resist a cheeky jibe at her competitor, quipping: "Are you okay, Danny?" as his face fell watching her success.

Despite his best efforts, Danny's total takings were a modest £58.40 compared to Irita's staggering £287.10 haul. A gracious yet defeated Danny chalked it up to Irita being "very, very lucky today", while she was over the moon with her windfall.

The pair's spirited rivalry was all in the name of charity, with all proceeds going towards the BBC Children in Need fund.
