Sarah Chianese dead: Sopranos star's daughter dies after cancer battle

The daughter of a star of the Sopranos has died aged 58. 's family revealed his daughter Sarah Francesca Chianese has died following a battle.

She had previously been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a malignant, cancerous brain tumour that develops from glial cells, specifically astrocytes.

"Sarah Francesca Chianese, daughter of Dominic Chianese, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15th," a tribute read on a fan page on behalf of the family.

Sarah's sister Rebecca shared: "Sarah was a bright light in this , she wanted everyone to live their happiest life and smile when they think of her."

Her daughter also said: "Eulogy for Sarah Francesca Chianese. How am I to eulogize my mother, Sarah Francesca Chianese? It's not that I lack the linguistic capabilities. I know my ABCs. I can count fairly well.

"Still, this is not a task that comes easy. I'm sure there are guides—a simple search and several clickbait articles will pop up. Ten easy ways, etc. I'm going to wing it, so excuse me."

Speaking to , Sarah's brother Dominic Jr. explained she will be remembered for "her kindness". He said this was "one of the greatest human attributes".

"She was dedicated to her craft, like a real artist when it came to that,' he said before describing how her dad was by her side until the very end. He went on: "I would just like to say that my father was there in her final days to support her in her transition. It was important to her and him both."

Taking to his mum's page, Sarah's son called her "one of the most accomplished women I’ve ever known". He went on: "Whether it was reclaiming and restoring old barns, working in a law firm in her early twenties, or dominating the Hudson Valley with her catering company in her late fifties, she got the job done—always in record time, with unreal competence."

Her dad Dominic, now 94, was best known for his role as Tony's Uncle Junior in The hit series The Sopranos. The character was a mentor who is the technical head of the family.

Junior, or Uncle June as he was known, was the stubborn and old-fashioned boss of the family - but it was in name only on the series. Tony let his uncle become become boss to stop a civil war and so he could run the show behind the scenes without law enforcement on his back.

Famous for playing the role of Johnny Ola in The Godfather Part II, actor Dominic went on to also appear in Boardwalk Empire and The Good Wife.
