PSG put themselves in control of their quarter-final after coming from behind to down . The French side will head to England with a one-goal lead owing to some Khvicha Kvaratskhelia brilliance.
The Parisians as they pursue their European dream and they're now looking to oust more English opposition. Kvaratskhelia's second-half strike put in control of the contest after fellow winger Desire Doue has also got in on the act, cancelling out Morgan Rogers' opener.
Nuno Mendes broke forward with minutes left and showed sensational composure to finish, potentially putting the game beyond the visitors. Villa boss returned to the ground he once called home but he, like so many before and after him, failed to overcome the Champions League hurdle that has haunted the club.
Despite the barrage of pressure from the newly crowned French champions it was a Villa break that unlocked the deadlock. After winning back possession the away with made four passes to find Rogers at the back post and his stellar season continued with a simple finish.
It stunned at Parc des Princes into silence but the hosts quickly got back to work and they only trailed for four minutes before Doue produced a stunner to equalise. The winger, cutting in from the left, until unleashed a strike from the edge of the box that left Emiliano Martinez rooted to the spot.

Kvaratskhelia completed a swift break to put PSG in front, combining pace, skill and a powerful finish that came off the post to cannon past Martinez. Villa struggled to get a foothold back in the game and Achraf Hakimi saw a goal ruled out by the offside flag, before the hosts could extend their lead further in stoppage time courtesy of Nuno Mendes
1. PSG justifying and dealing with favouritismThe manner of Real Madrid's loss last night saw the bookies quickly install PSG, a side who threatened to go out of Europe in the group phase, as tournament favourites. Luis Enrique looks to have his French outfit purring and plenty have now backed them to conquer the continent.
If dominating games is an art then this PSG outfit are creating on-field pictures that Claude Monet would smile at. The Parisians outclassed in the last round and it was much of the same against Villa. Without the superstar egos of yesteryear they do look every inch a team that can finally win the Champions League their Qatari owners so crave. Now it will be dealing with that pressure and expectation whilst Liverpool have shown that a smash and grab is not off the cards.
2. £120m well spentPSG have shown for more than a decade than money does not buy trophies and they have world-record transfer fees to prove it. What it does buy though is outright quality and it was that kind of quality that means they will head to England with the advantage.
Liverpool's backline found out just how difficult Kvaratskhelia was to deal with. He only moved to Paris in January, leaving Napoli after £70m had changed hands. He's wasted no time in paying back that fee whilst Doue set the club back £50m when he signed from Rennes in the summer. Combined the pair turned the game on its head and with pace, desire, width, work rate and end product there are few boxes they don't tick.
3. Villa remain in the tie - justThe club knew they were huge outsiders heading to Paris but the message will have been simply give yourself a chance heading back to Villa Park. The opening goal gave the visitors something to hold onto, even if their lead was a brief one, but Emery's side proved they could withstand waves of pressure when they came.

Villa's record on their own patch is impressive and the likes of have already been dispatched. Returning from France was only half the mission and the newbies still have a slender chance of completing their assignment, but they will need everything to go against them with PSG losing by two-goals just once this season.
4. Doue. Wow.There will have been plenty watching on, especially those not accustomed to French football, who will have seen Doue wearing a PSG shirt for the first time. He's been behind the likes of Bradley Barcola in the pecking order, but boy did the teenager stand up and say 'this is my stage tonight'.
His strike to level the contest just before the 40 minute mark was sublime and that seemed to inject even more confidence into a forward who was hardly lacking it to begin with. Doue didn't come cheap, but in the modern market, and with more than a decade of quality to come it looks the shrewdest of investments.
He's surely the club's most famous supporter, and boy does he support them. The Prince of Wales, accompanied by son George, travelled to Paris to be present for one of the club's most famous European nights. William has been seen in the stands for some of their earlier group games.
Despite his Royal commitments the 42-year-old, who was born just months after Villa won the European Cup in 1982, is an avid fan and, like a coach, he stood in the tunnel at the Parc des Princes and shook hands with every player en route to the dressing room. The camera was also quick to pan his way and he passionately celebrated Rogers' goal with his son.
