Suddenly a tourist helicopter fell into the Hudson River while flying. 6 people including three children died in this horrific accident. The video related to the accident is becoming very viral on social media platforms. The incident took place near the West Side Highway and Spring Street between Lower Manhattan and Jersey City. As soon as the accident was reported, emergency teams got involved in the rescue operation.
The New York Police Department confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the helicopter has completely drowned in the water. The NTSB and the FAA are jointly investigating the accident. New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the six people killed in the accident included five members of a Spanish family. The sky was cloudy at the time of the accident. The wind was blowing at a speed of about 10 to 15 miles per hour.
The propeller separated and fell into the water - eyewitness
Regarding the incident, a man named Bruce Wall informed that I saw the helicopter breaking in the air. The propeller was spinning after separating from the helicopter. Another person said that I saw from the window of my house that after a loud sound, the helicopter fell into pieces in the river. The video going viral on social media also clearly shows how the helicopter had gone completely out of control while falling. The propeller was separating and falling into the water. Within a few seconds, the helicopter completely submerged in the water.
FAA and NTSB engaged in joint investigation
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that it is investigating the accident along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The helicopter's black box, flight recording data and debris will be analysed to determine what may have caused the accident.
