'People Don't Listen': Urvashi Rautela DENIES Saying There Is Her Temple In Uttarakhand After Backlash, Warns Legal Action Against Those Making 'Confusing Remarks'

Actress Urvashi Rautela was at the receiving end of severe backlash after a video of her claiming that there is a temple in her name in Uttarakhand went viral online. The actress broke her silence on Saturday and blamed netizens and media for twisting her words. She also threatened legal action against those making "confusing remarks" about her.

Urvashi's team issued an official statement on behalf of the actress, which read. "Urvashi Rautela said that there is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand, not Urvashi Rautela’s temple. Now people don’t even listen to things properly; just hearing ‘Urvashi’ or ‘temple,’ they assumed that people worship Urvashi Rautela. Listen to this video properly and then speak (sic)."

The statement added, "Urvashi said, yes, at Delhi University, she was referred to as ‘Damdami Mai’, and there’s a news article supporting this. Legal action should be taken against those who have made misleading remarks about Urvashi Rautela’s statement (sic)."

"It is essential that, before making baseless allegations or derogatory comments against any individual, the facts are thoroughly verified. Everyone in society should treat one another with respect and understanding, so that everyone’s rights are protected (sic)," it concluded.

What is the Urvashi Rautela temple row?

It all began after Urvashi, during her appearance on Siddharth Kanan's podcast, claimed that there was a temple in her name near Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand. This did not go well with the temple authorities, and a priest from Badrinath Dham slammed the actress for spreading misinformation.

He clarified that there is an Urvashi temple in the area, but it is a shrine of Goddess Sati and is one of the 108 Shaktipeeths, and that it has nothing to do with the actress.

Later, a police complaint was filed against Urvashi in Uttarakhand by a priest organisation, accusing the actress of hurting religious sentiments.
