The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday apprehended four accused including Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Mumbai Regional Office and a businessman, his son and businessman's partner, immediately after a bribe of Rs 20 lakh was handed over to said AGM. Searches were conducted by CBI at residential and the official premises of accused at various locations in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Aurangabad which led to the recovery of several digital devices, cash and incriminating documents, agency officials said.
According to the agency sources, a case was registered by CBI on 09.05.2025 against six accused including two Assistant General Managers (AGMs) of FCI, Mumbai Regional Office; 3 private persons and an Aurangabad based private company and others on allegations that accused AGM (bribe receiver) along with partner of accused Aurangabad based private company entered into a criminal conspiracy with the intention of showing undue favours to the businessman in the matter of awarding Tenders of FCI Mumbai Office.
"After registration of a case, CBI laid a trap and nabbed one of the accused AGMs of FCI red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 lakh from an associate of accused businessman (partner of said private company). Another Rs.5 Lakhs, which was also to be delivered as bribe, was further recovered from the accused businessmen. Later, accused public servant (bribe receiver) and accused businessman, his son & his associate (bribe giver) were apprehended," said a CBI official.
