Saudi Arabia bans stay for non-Hajj visas-holding tourists in Makkah

In preparation for the 2025 Hajj season, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism has mandated that, starting April 29, only individuals with valid Hajj permits or official authorization to reside or work in Makkah may book or stay in accommodations within the city. This directive aims to ensure the safety and organization of the pilgrimage, aligning with broader measures to manage the influx of pilgrims, as per a report by Saudi Gazette.

According to Saudi Gazette, The Ministry of Interior has also announced that, effective April 23, expatriates without a valid Hajj permit are prohibited from entering Makkah. Exceptions are made for residents with Makkah-issued residency permits or official work authorizations. Security checkpoints have been established to enforce this regulation, and violators will be turned back. These measures are part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to maintain the sanctity of the Hajj pilgrimage and ensure the well-being of all participants. Authorities have emphasized the importance of compliance and warned that non-adherence could result in legal penalties.
