In Match 21 of the , the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a narrow four-run defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants. A handy contribution in the win was made by South Africa's Aiden Markram who not only scored 47 off 28 balls while opening the batting in the first innings, but also grabbed a stunning catch to get the better of the dangerous batter Andre Russell.
The fielding brilliance of the Proteas cricketer was on display during the 17th over, as Shardul Thakur came running in to deliver a low full-toss, but the Caribbean batter could only find the toe end of the blade, as the ball went in the air, but required a diving effort from Markram to get the better of Russell. The effort was praiseworthy, as Russell was more than capable of getting things done for KKR.
