Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], November 6 (ANI): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo announced that the state would be celebrating the International Day of Millets on November 10-11, as declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi would inaugurate the 'Millet Mission' on November 10.
Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said, "The Prime Minister had declared 10th November as the International Day of Millets. So this year, we are observing the International Day of Millets on November 10th and 11th in Bhubaneswar. We are going to have 10 technical sessions spread over two days. The CM (Mohan Charan Majhi) is going to inaugurate the 'Millet Mission' on November 10."
He further said that this event would be on forgotten crops that are grown in the tribal and the mascot also bears the name Milli which has been derived from millets.
"This mission is about educating people to eat healthy, live healthy and eat fresh. I am sure that all the international participants who are coming for this two-day symposium and the other technical experts, through their interaction, are going to enlighten all the people of the state."
Reacting to a conference organised by iFOREST (International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology) on 'Just Energy Transition To Support Green Growth And Green Jobs In Odisha' he said that Odisha was moving towards a more sustainable generation of power.
He further said, "The conference today is organised by iFOREST on 'Just Energy Transition To Support Green Growth And Green Jobs In Odisha'. We are moving towards a more sustainable generation of power. As per the guidelines set by the PM, we have to move with the times and have a more environment-friendly environment for people...The seven districts that were being talked about are the seven districts where you have a lot of mining activity available. Wherever there is mining activity, you have a lot of DMF funds available. So through the DMF fund, you can develop sustainable green energy." (ANI)
