BLACKPINK members prioritize solo fans amid solo success

When one talks about K-pop, a few names quickly come to mind — like BTS, the global superstars, or, for girl groups, TWICE and BLACKPINK. Speaking of the latter, as BLACKPINK continues to grow on the global stage, despite having just 32 songs in their 8-year career, one thing was always certain — their fandom was strong.

However, as their stardom continued to evolve, a new wave of fandom tension was also brewing — this time between loyal Blinks and the members' growing solo fanbases. What was once a united fandom under the iconic pink hammer lightstick now seems to be quietly becoming divided, as each member embraces their individual following amid soaring solo careers.

Each member's solo fanbase

Lisa, now a solo powerhouse, made headlines during her Coachella 2025 stage. However, while interacting with the crowd, she addressed only her personal fandom, affectionately known as "Lillies" (or "Lilies"). Despite BLACKPINK lightsticks visibly waving in the crowd, Lisa acknowledged only the "star" lightsticks held by her solo fans.

Rosé, fresh off being named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People of 2025, publicly gave a heartfelt shoutout to her solo supporters, the "Number Ones." In her thank-you message posted on her Instagram story, Rosé specifically mentioned her solo fans. She wrote, "What a wild thing to wake up to..!!! thank you TIME and number ones.."

Jennie also formally established her solo fanbase, revealing the fandom name "Rubies" through a personal voice message on her official website. The announcement surely was a touching moment for her fans.

Even Jisoo, long cherished for her bond with BLINKS, now sees her solo fans identifying themselves as "Sooyas," a casual, affectionate nickname derived from 'Jisoo-ya.'

As each member's solo career strengthens, some BLINKS feel torn, wondering if they'll have to choose between these growing fandoms or juggle all four. 

However, with BLACKPINK set to make a long-awaited comeback and a world tour on the horizon, fans still hold onto some hope. But with the group's future as a unit uncertain post the tour, many are left asking: Is the era of BLINKS quietly coming to an end?
