Bumper recruitment on 8000 posts in Jharkhand, permanent appointment from Home Guard to Assistant Jailor

Send Push

Jharkhand is set to witness a large-scale recruitment drive soon, with 8,000 permanent positions to be filled across various departments. The upcoming vacancies will include roles such as Assistant Jailers, Wardens (Kakshpal), District Police Force members, Home Guards, and Excise Constables. According to official sources, the Jharkhand Prisons Department will soon release a formal advertisement regarding this recruitment.

Why This Recruitment is Crucial

Due to a significant shortage of Assistant Jailers and Wardens in Jharkhand’s 31 prisons, the government has recommended fast-tracking the hiring process. This recruitment aims to fill key security and administrative roles across the state’s correctional and enforcement services.

Breakdown of Vacancies
  • Assistant Jailers: 45 posts

  • Wardens (Kakshpal): 1,900 posts

  • Other roles: District Police Force, Home Guards, and Excise Constables

All appointments will be made on a permanent basis, including that of the Home Guard, which was previously a temporary position in many cases.

Relaxed Physical Test Criteria

To make the process more inclusive and safer, especially after a previous incident where a candidate died during a physical test for the Excise Constable role, the running test requirements have been relaxed:

  • Previous Requirement: 10 km run

  • New Requirement: Only 1.6 km run

    • Male candidates: 1600 meters in 6 minutes

    • Female candidates: 1600 meters in 10 minutes

Candidates must pass a physical efficiency test (PET), a written examination, and a running test to qualify for the positions, particularly for posts under the constable category.

This recruitment drive is expected to boost employment in Jharkhand while strengthening the state's law enforcement and correctional infrastructure.
