Strictly's Amy Dowden makes poignant return to Pride of Britain Awards with JB Gill

’s has made a poignant return to the after getting the all-clear following her breast cancer diagnosis.

In May last year, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer after she found a lump the day before she jetted off on honeymoon with her husband Ben Jones. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and fertility treatment over the next nine months, and was told by doctors in February this year that she had “no evidence of disease”.

At the Pride of Britain Awards in October last year, Amy bravely arrived on the red carpet with her head shaved, as she was undergoing chemotherapy, and rocking a bright pink gown in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, Amy’s appearance at the star-studded awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, showed just how far the professional dancer has come since her devastating cancer diagnosis over 16 months ago.

Wearing a stunning gold embellished gown with a daring thigh-high split, Amy was glowing as she posed alongside her Strictly dance partner JB Gill. Serving as inspiration for other cancer patients, the 34-year-old proudly rocked her short blonde hair which was slicked back into a chic style. She finished off the gorgeous outfit with a pair of silver heels and matching clutch bag, along with diamond earrings.

Her make-up highlighted her features and focused attention on her incredible gown, which glistened and shimmered as she walked down the red carpet on the arm of the JLS singer, who looked dapper in a velvet tuxedo. Amy’s beauty team ensured her ensemble was finished to perfection, as she showed off a pristine manicure which matched the colour of her dress.

This time last year, Amy made one of her first public appearances since being diagnosed with breast cancer, and she revealed that shaving her head was a last minute decision. Amy confessed she was inspired to “brave the bald” after undergoing cancer treatment and losing her hair, and told her followers that the experience had been “liberating”.

Her documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me focused on her health journey after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she reflected on the hardest year of her life in an emotional scene. “In the past year, I’ve had a mastectomy, fertility treatment, chemotherapy, , blood clots, a broken foot and finally it’s time for me to get back on that dancefloor,” Amy beamed, as it was confirmed she would be returning to Strictly after missing last year’s show.
