Hairy Bikers' Si King bravely shared that the late would've wanted him to "keep pushing on" as he takes charge of their joint legacy.

The beloved TV chef and author Dave Myers sadly lost his fight with cancer at 66 in February, having been diagnosed the previous year.

Eight months after his passing, Si, aged 57, opened up about his loss during an emotional appearance on BBC's The One Show on Tuesday, where he was promoting their last collaborative book.

Chatting with presenters Alex Jones and Alex Scott, Si confirmed, "I'm coping ok thank you." Before becoming visibly moved, adding: "It's a big loss and a big adjustment but I know Dave would have wanted me to keep pushing up so that's exactly what I will do.", reports .

Determined to honour their work, Si said, "I want to look after the legacy we have built because it deserves the respect Dave and myself put into it so I'll continue to look after it."

Reflecting on the poignant memorial ride held for Dave earlier in the year, Si admitted: "I've never short for words but I still can't put it into words because it was just so unbelievable.

"46,000 motorcycles and 150,000 people lined up to pay tribute to my friend. It was lovely that the motorcycle community came together and it was wonderful.

"It was an amazing energy to be a part of and it was quite remarkable."

During the programme, Si shared the emotional story that inspired his latest cookbook and what makes it so significant to him.

Alex Jones then questioned Si on the sentimentality of the publication, quizzing: "Of course this book is all about recipes that have come down from one generation to the next, but this book is particularly special isn't it?".

Dave responded: “The book is special because it is the book me and Dave started together before he passed so as his best mate I really wanted to finish it in his honour really so that’s what this book is about.

He added: “It’s all of those recipes that stuck with us throughout the years. It’s full of heritage and full of stories and heart. That’s the lovely thing about food.”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
