A man who dressed up as a dragon 'furry' plotted a triple murder after becoming obsessed with a teenage girl he met at a convention.
Frank Felix, now 33, appeared in Superior Court, California, this week facing three counts of following a tripple homicide in 2016. Felix, who went by the persona Entey, fell head over heels for 17-year-old Katlynn Goodwill, also known as Day Dreamer Fox Wolf.
He hatched a plot to get rid of her parents after they banned them from seeing each other because Katlynn was under age. The court heard how Felix knew Katlynn and her parents through the furry community. The pair had previously met at a furry convention, which is where attendees get their kicks from putting on animal costumes.
According to the court, Katlynn's mother Jennifer acted as a support system for other furries who had problems. Felix's accomplice, Josh Acosta, 29, known as 'Brony', also knew Katylnn's family and was a fan of My Little Pony. Jennifer, who was 39 at the time, ordered her daughter to stop seeing Felix, who was 25, due to the age difference.

Felix and Acosta, who was then 21 years old, planned to free Katlynn from her parents, according to . Felix had become obsessed with the teen to the point that he would cut himself in front of her to make a scene. In the week leading up to the killing, he reportedly hatched the with Acosta via email. They hatched the plan during the early morning of September 24, 2016. The prosecutor told jurors: “(Felix) became despondent and angry and eventually formulated a plan. (Felix and Acosta) determined they would solve the problem by saving the 17-year-old from the clutches of her mother and stepfather by murdering them.”
The pair purchased bolt cutters, ear plugs and ammo in Burbank, California. Acosta agreed to commit the murders after Katlynn confided in them and said she had been molested by her stepfather Christopher Yost. She let Acosta inside her home whilst she waited in a car with Felix. Acosta used Felix's father's shotgun and fired it directly at Arthur “Billy” Boucher, a friend of the family who was staying over for the night. Acosta then entered Jennifer's bedroom and shot her between the eyes and then gunned down Christopher as he tried to escape.
The Attorney’s Office said in a written statement: “Acosta entered the living room and shot Boucher in the head as the victim slept on the couch. The defendant then went to the master bedroom and shot Goodwill-Yost in the face. Yost awoke and Acosta shot the victim in the head as he was fleeing outside.” Their six-year-old daughter sadly discovered their bodies at the home. Katlynn was declared missing until she was found later on. Felix told detectives that he "knew she wouldn't be safe if the parents weren't killed."
Former soldier Acosta was found on all three counts of murder on November 8, 2018 and sentenced to life in prison on December 14 that year. If convicted, Felix will face life in prison without the chance of parole.
