E4 Married at First Sight UK secrets revealed as star lets slip how some scenes are set up

Fans of are used to seeing contestants have meltdowns ahead of walking down the aisle and even look unsure when asked if they want to go ahead with marrying their partner.

But now, the can exclusively reveal all is not what it seems, according to wedding celebrant Steven Howes-Bull, who officiated the wedding ceremony of last year. In a radio interview on , he revealed a few juicy secrets fans are not privy to.

He admitted to making a production faux pas as he introduced himself to ahead of the ceremony. Explaining the situation, he said: "They do not see each other before the ceremony at all, in fact I bumped into Mark in the carpark and introduced myself which was a bit of faux pas, because even I'm not meant to see who they are."

One of the most memorable scenes during Mark and Sean's wedding was when Mark was given the wrong shirt, which led him into a meltdown. And when asked by production how long he left groom waiting, he said it was three hours. However, according to Steven, this was not true as it was only ten minutes.

Steven continued: "Mark said 'I think I've been told it was three hours', well it was ten minutes. I know because I was there. I'd have gone home for my tea if I had to wait three hours. But yeah he was... high maintenance is the polite term, but great entertainment."

As viewers watch the wedding reception, as the newly married pair get to know each other, usually the camera pans the room to reveal a packed crowd. But Steven claims that a table that can fit eight guests only sits four people, so the camera crew can get in.

He went on to say: "The tables are half filled because the cameras got to get in. So normally you would have eight people round a table, you maybe have four. So it's very clever camera work. " When asked the question if they take each other to be their husband or wife, there can occasionally be a pause, leaving viewers thinking that one of the pair were already having second thoughts.

But when it came to that scene between Mark and Sean, Steven said Mark's pause was edited, as in reality, he had said "yes" straight away. Speaking about that moment, the wedding celebrant admitted: "I said to Mark 'will you take Sean to be your husband' and there's a massive pause and his eyes were wandering everywhere. But in reality he said yes straight away."

For most, it remains unclear as to why some couples arrive late into the experiment and Steven agreed, as he feels it puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to the public warming to them. And while it looks as though the late arrivals were meeting the rest of the group for the fist time ahead of the dinner party, it has now been revealed that they had met at the hen and stag parties.

Steven went on to say: "It's one wedding per day, generally per venue so they wouldn't see each other until the stags and hens anyway so they do keep it under wraps. Also in the promo you didn't see Mark and Sean in the original promo, they would have looked like just two guys. Everybody else was in pairs, so you instantly know there is a same sex couple, so they kept that out. And then they came a few episodes in, which I always think they're at a disadvantage."
