Liverpool head coach as Conor Bradley and Federico Chiesa were ruled out.

The Merseysiders will look to extend their faultless record in this season's following on from and as they travel to Germany. However, they will have to do without three first team stars for the away clash at Red Bull Arena.

After being , forward Jota has failed to make the squad as he nurses an issue with his ribs. Meanwhile, full back Bradley is confirmed to have picked up an unspecified knock which will keep him out of the trip, while attacker is also ongoing.

Confirming that the trio will be out of the game against Leipzig, Reds boss Slot provided some insight into the decision to leave those stars behind on Merseyside. He explained: " and and Federico Chiesa didn't make the trip either so we have a few issues.

"Diogo [Jota] got a knock, brought down but the other player fell on to him. He couldn't carry on and it is difficult to judge at this moment," he continued, as he refused to put a timeline on his return. "Ribs? Somewhere over here, bruised I think, so we'll have to see how long it is going to take."

"I think it is always difficult with injuries to see where they are after a few days. Federico [Chiesa] it's more simple, he missed pre-season, going to a league that is a higher intensity than Serie A. That makes it difficult for him to where the rest of the team is at."

Revealing that Chiesa is still working to reach peak fitness after his move from Juventus, the Dutchman added: "It has to do with him missing entire pre-season so it is difficult to build up players. Big disappointment with him to be in and out so we feel sorry for him but he signed a long-term contract."

"That's what we're trying to bring in tomorrow. are doing really well in the Bundesliga, very good team, and yes the fixture list is tough, but what do you expect from the Champions League and Premier League."

As for his thoughts on the competition's new league phase format, he added: "I've got my head around it, but I don't think you can have a fair opinion after two games. If you ask what I think about it, I'd say I like it, but that because we have six points from two games! You can only judge when the group stage is done, and then see if me, you and the fans like this format."
